18 By Moby

18 Was Moby's 6th album and was released in 2002. Moby Had been praised with bringing a face to the then unheard of genre Electronica however in 18 the album strayed away from past albums ideas and became a much more experimental album.

The Album Begins With “We Are All Made Of Stars” A laid back sounding song which is built around the chorus “people they come together...” The Song isn't exactly enjoyable but it does engage the listener and blend electronic and acoustic well together. The Main feature of this album I would say is variety in my opinion for example, while “We are all made of stars had a more rock set up including guitars, “In My Heart” is almost spiritual sounding, with a range of string instruments gently accompanying a melodic male voice. “Extreme Ways” is much more intense and dangerous sounding to being with. Its one of the sadder songs lyrics wise and it does bring about some emotion in the listener. “Jam For The Ladies” takes another strange twist with the song sounding like a hip-hop track. The Album Title Track “18” is very mellow and delicate sounding and its once again different from the past tracks as its completely instrumental. “Harbour” Features Sinead O'Conner and it is my personal favourite of the album. The accompanying music isn't the most lively or interesting but O'Connor's voice is incredible rich and powerful when the chorus comes around and its definitely the highlight of the track and possibly even the album. The Album ends with the 18th track “I'm Not Worried At All” features a jazz singer which is another addition to the list of experiments and new techniques. Its relaxing and easy to listen to but you feel quite sad when you listen to this it as its the end of a good album.

18 by Moby is Ascrono Music's Album Of The Week because its simply a great album, it strayed away from Moby's past works which was a big gamble especially as he was renowned for doing it but it was a success in most peoples opinion and the end result was varied but always enjoyable.
